Abstract

In Colombia, researchers have focused their efforts on characterizing the financing structure of companies, without taking the region, the size and the economic sector into consideration. The financing structure of companies in the Colombian Pacific region according to size and economic sector is shown in this research. To do so, the financial information from 1831 firms, which were reported to the Superintendence of Companies between 2013 and 2014, was used. “Micro-sized enterprises” are companies that have a weak and vulnerable financing structure, especially those companies belonging to the manufacturing sector, which becomes a disadvantage in the competitive process.
