Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the results of an evaluation of the financial performance of two of the most representative companies of the clinical excellence cluster in Valle del Cauca (Colombia), Lafrancol and Baxter Laboratories, in the period 2013-2017, following as a method the static and trend analysis of accounting indicators and economic value added (EVA). These indicators show their growth, efficiency, efficacy and effectiveness. It is found that both companies have grown and obtained accounting returns, but did not create EVA every year, leaving different results in the five-year period of their market value added (MVA), which is negative at Baxter and positive at Lafrancol. The study could be complemented by looking more closely at the variables in each of the factors that determine their value.
