The Potential of Big Data in the Health Field. Special Reference to the Spanish Case

Abstract

Big Data (or data intelligence) is becoming very important in the health field. The objectives of the work are: to reflect on the knowledge and application of Big Data in the health field, with special reference to the study of its advantages, risks and disadvantages, as well as the challenges it presents. The methodology is based on the systematic review of the literature. The results allow us to conclude that, despite the large amount of information collected in health processes, its exploitation is low. Big Data will have a positive impact on the improvement of health care, being very useful for medical students and health personnel. However, it will be necessary to strengthen personal data protection measures.
