Abstract

As a result of the global financial crisis of 2007/2008 the debate regarding the contents taught in the academic training of economists has been revived; particularly in the study of macroeconomics aggregates. In this article we argue that the teaching of macroeconomics can and must be taught in a pluralistic view, not only in order to facilitate the understanding of complex economic phenomena, but also to encourage in the student the need for a comprehensive framework of theories and references to cope with a changing economic reality. The present article also provides an alternative plural teaching in the field of economic growth; topic that has been addressed for decades under one particular approach, the neoclassical paradigm.
