Abstract

This article presents a descriptive analysis of competitiveness determinant factors in the countries members of the Andean Community, between 1990 and 2012. From the World Bank and CEPAL development indicators, the key elements are analyzed where the progress or deterioration of proper competitiveness variables is identified. In general, they present improvements in infrastructure, whereas the science and technology advance reflects stagnation. The results prove to be dissimilar and do not allow establishing which country is in better condition in relation to all the factors. Colombia shows progress in science and technology results, as well as Ecuador. Peru stands out in labor terms, and Bolivia, in spite of some improvements, exposes deficient conditions.
