Abstract

In this article the relationship between population growth and the location of economic activities bet­ween 2000 and 2010 for municipalities in Mexico is explored. The proposed methodology is based on a model center -periphery, in which each municipality according to its geographical position is distinguished. The results allow to note that the growth rates in the Federal District and metropolitan centers are stable, while the highest population growth seen in the large and medium municipalities belonging to national metropolises and metropolitan areas, but it is also related to the concentration of manufacturing activities of medium and high value added.
