Abstract

In this research, an input-output model is applied empirically to make impact analysis on productive structure in Valle del Cauca. Pursuing this objective, some sector interdependence indicators are calculated, proposing impact simulations responding to final demand changes. Integrating the results given by the interdependence analysis and measurement of impacts, a strong association among sectors qualified as key and the ones with major quantity variations. The most dynamic sectors in Valle del Cauca are: non market services, construction, paper and printing, chemical products and commerce. Those sectors must be monitored to determine the regional economic behavior, which is needed to intensify the department output and also to define regional economic policy and the design of development strategies.
