Abstract

This article presents an exploratory analysis of spatial data that characterize the Colombian Pacific Region and its departments (Cauca, Choco, Valle and Nariño), regarding population density, qualityof- life index, and economic activities. To this end, univariate techniques of spatial econometrics are used, and are applied to data from SIGOT (Geographical Information System of Planning and Territorial Development- Spanish acronym). It is found that in the Colombian Pacific Region, clusters of population density, quality of life, and economic units are present, leading to the conclusion that inequalities in the region remain over time.
