Analysis and Strengthening of the Organizational Culture in a Higher Education Institution Located in Cali

Abstract

The organizational culture refers to those aspects that characterize a company and represents a competitive advantage over the company environment, which makes it an important development factor. This paper aims to identify the cultural features in a Higher Education Institution using Cameron’s & Quinn’s model (1999) called Competing Values Framework and the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument, where four types of culture are evaluated: Clan, Adhocracy, Market, and Hierarchy; this is done based on six dimensions: dominant characteristics, leadership, management of employees, articulation of the organization, strategic emphasis, and success criteria. The results allow proposing intervention strategies in order to strengthen culture, generate impact in the adoption of the organizational philosophy and greater competitiveness.
